Yes, it's 2011, not 2008, but the great thing about baseball is that we welcome it back EVERY year.
Hearing Dave's voice on this video is bittersweet. It's both comforting and heartbreaking at the same time. I have wondered since the day that he died last November, how will we carry on in our baseball lives without him ... but we must and we will. He wouldn't want it any other way.

ST29 | vs. Dodgers
Mariners 1 | Dodgers 8
HERE'S HOPING ERIK AND WILHELMSEN WERE WORK WORKING ON STUFF
as they both struggled mightily, each giving up more runs in their respective appearances tonight than they had all spring long.
THINGS WERE LOOKING PRETTY BLEAK WITH THE BATS TOO
only THREE hits. But, Michael Saunders did hit his first spring home run in his last spring game.
AS FOR IN THE GLOVES AND ON THE BASES
one DP and one SB (Langerhans)
M's finish the spring at 16-13-2

ST28 | vs. Rox
Mariners 7 | Rockies 2
GOOD ENOUGH, TO GREAT
Mr. Fister wasn't especially sharp, issuing THREE walks in his FOUR innings of work, but he didn't allow any runs and earned the W. He also had good things to say about how Olivo called the game. Laffey finally gave up a couple of runs and Pauley continued his strong spring and Wright kept his ERA invisible.
BATS LEAVE AZ HOT
Langerhans continued showing off his smoking hot bat with a THREE-run triple and Cust hit his 4th homer of the spring, a TWO-run shot. Nice to see Olivo go 2 for 5 with a couple of RBI, coming back just in time. And even the kids contributed, Poythress and Rodrigues each with a double.
NEWS AND NOTES
Congrats to Wilhelmson, Laffey and Lueke, all added to the roster.
Only THREE MORE DAYS!!!!!

Not exactly soft landings for Erik or Michael. The former two years removed from a baseball mound of any sort and the later a rookie with all of 12 triple-A games under his baseball belt. Arlington hasn't been especially kind to Felix over the years either. I'm thinking the M's will be fortunate if they can get out of Texas with one win.
Jason will be pumped to draw the home opener...

NINTH INNING VICTORIES ARE ALWAYS FUN, EVEN IN SPRING!
Offense? Wow, M's had some today...
Smoak hit his second spring homer (and this one from the RIGHT side), Bradely kept racking up the RBI and Figgins going 3 for 3 with an RBI and a SB, Steven Baron gets the winning hit in the NINTH And, the collective ELEVEN hits and SEVEN runs ain't half bad either.
Unfortunately, the bad news was with the starting pitcher...
His ERA went from just over TWO to just over FOUR today - the FIFTH inning was especially rough. Here's hoping it was just the inevitable "spring wall" and nothing to worry about.

Seemed to surprise many, including me. Good luck, Paper Boy!
