On the road, the M's are actually an above average offense. 
In fact, they rank at least top 5 in most major offensive stats... 2012 M's ROAD stats

Granted, some of the "counting stats" are due, in part, to the fact that the M's have played more road games than any other team but, the improvement over last year is vast...2011 M's ROAD stats
(e.g., the M's have hit 51 road homers so far this season - they hit 52 road homers ALL of last season)
