Mariners 6 | Athletics 2

on the mound
Felix apparently a bit amped to get the season started, grooved one to Willingham for a two-run homer in the first inning.  But then, he settled down to mow 'em down, allowing only ONE hit over the next SIX innings and ended up with the COMPLETE game (108 pitches - 5 hits - 2 runs - ZERO walks)

at the plate
OK, too may ducks left on the pond (1-11 w/RISP) but at least they got them on.  And, they Made. Them. Work. (the opposing pitchers, that is - they threw 184 pitches compared to Felix's 108).
SEVEN walks!  Who ARE these guys?
Figgy Power??

of base paths and leather works
Jack W got a nice little workout in his new position tonight.  A bit of a scary force out, when leapt up just in time to not get his legs buckled by the base-runner and then was part of TWO double plays...
~ 4-6-3 Wilson-to-Ryan-to-Smoak
~ 5-4-3 Figgy-to-Wilson-to-Smoak
(hey - either is pretty close to "tinker-to-evers-to-chance")
Love the aggressiveness - Ichi-Fig with a double steal and Ichiro with another later (as well as one caught-stealing and a pick-off first base).

taking advantage
of FIVE errors and a bad throw or two.
I'm thinking most would NOT want Olivo barreling down on them at the plate (hope Suzuki is OK)

curiouser and curiouser
FIVE players on an Opening Day roster for the FIRST time in their career...
Lueke, Pauley, Pineda, Saunders, Smoak, Wilhelmsen

ONE down, one-hundred and sixty-one to go.
