When each of the opponents bottom third of the order have as many (one had more) hits as the entire Mariner lineup, you know it's a bad night.  The White Sox last three batters accounted for 10 of their 17 hits 4 of their 6 runs and 2 of their 6 rbi.  Other than the one offensive explosion in Detroit, the M's bats have combined for a total of 7 runs in Doug's other 6 starts.

Many kudos must be given to Gavin Floyd - he was nothing short of awesome.

Yes, I know Doug gave up 14 hits and 5 runs (and I was there to see it) but somehow...
It didn't seem like it.  At least through the first five innings, where he had only used 49 pitches, threw 23 of 27 first pitch strikes, it seemed like they were, for the most part, blooping them in were they weren't.  OK, so three bloops in-a-row and then a hit-by-pitch is not exactly stellar.  I guess the White Sox had to break out at some point.  Maybe he threw TOO many strikes? (59 of 80)

As for the pen...
Laffey was great (as usual).  Cortes FINALLY got to see some action (hadn't pitched since being called up on April 25th).  He gave up one single and got three ground ball outs.  "The bartender" gave up his requisite one walk, one run.

Overall, the DEE was a pleasure...
They turned three double plays, Michael made a "Guti-esque" home run robbing catch and, Doug made a great play himself - getting to a ground ball and throwing to Justin from his knees to get the runner at 1B.

And then there was Milton...
The fans got on him early on as it appeared he might be giving somewhat less than full effort in left field, not to mention at the plate.  He did redeem himself, somewhat, by making a nice sliding catch.
