Due to the early start, I wasn't able to follow the game, so am reduced to reiterating the box score.
on the mound...
More steller-ness.
Erik had runners on base in every inning except his last, the 6th, but I'd classify SIX hits, ONE walk and NO runs, as a resounding success. Enter the 'Pen who contributed by retiring the last NINE batters they faced. David's TWO scoreless innings inched his ERA to BELOW one (.95 to be exact). Brandon's scoreless frame SHUT the door for his 12th save.
at the plate...
The first thing that stands out in the box score is the empty hit column from 1-4. In fact, the M's only had five hits spread among only three batters. Guti had two hits, walked once, scored two runs and tallied one RBI via a solo shot (his first of the season!). Adam had a hit, a run and an RBI. Brendan continued his torrid streak with two more hits, including a two-out triple and an RBI. Justin and Jack W each walked once with two outs, but were left stranded.
of base paths and leather works...
Guti certainly isn't being timid in his return - he was caught stealing AND picked off 1B
Brendan-to-Jack-to-Adam was the only double play (turned in the first)
