Mariners 1 | Angels 5
Suffice it to say, Jered Weaver is a tough first draw...
First AB = strikeout swinging
First play = slow broken bat roller, nice throw to Justin for the out
Second play = high chop that he should have kept in his pocket but, AK picks it to keep runner 1B
(nice to see Brendan chatting behind the glove after the play - #learningonthejob)
Second AB = strikeout looking
Third play = FC, runner out at 2B
Fourth play = attempted tag, runner safe (but by the replay, maybe not)
Fifth play = snared line out
Third AB = fouled out to 3B
Sixth play = routine ground out
Fourth AB = pop up to SS
Doug only went SIX tonight and gave up THREE, but still, on a night where he didn't have much, he still gave them a chance to win. And, the bats had a great chance to get more than the one they managed off Weaver in the 3rd (who otherwise was stellar) with Ichiro at 3B with only one out - alas, it was not to be.
Small bright spot...
Guti w/two hits and a SB ~ hopefully the start of something as he has struggled mightily.
So, Doug takes yet another loss and his ERA inches up a smidge to 3.09
In Doug's TEN losses, the M's have scored a total of NINE runs.
Just sad.
