Mariners 1 | Rangers 3
Not much good to say about this game or this series...
except that it's over.
The offensive woes are obvious and bordering on historic...
no need to belabor those facts.
That Dustin committed his first big league error isn't good...
but, that it came in his 24th game seems to speak to the fact that he's handling himself pretty well at 2B.
Blake had a solid outing...
He threw a lot of pitches (104) for 6.2 innings but, held the Rangers to 3 runs - something not done too often. In fact, the Rangers have been held to 3 runs or less in only 35 of their 96 games (and 4 of those were by the Mariners). Blake also showed the ability to get out of trouble - bases loaded and two outs in the 1st inning and he got Cruz to strikeout.
The relief core did well today also...
Jeff, Aaron and Chris combined to hold the Rangers scoreless in 2.1 innings
Here's to a day off for reflection and hoping that a change of scenery and some temperate surrounds will spark a little something in the icy bats.
