The Mariners have now won SIX series in-a-row ~ most since 2001. A reason to be encouraged, if not outright optimistic.
A little bit of everything in this one, including runs scored by means other than walks, infield singles and ground ball outs...
TWO, count 'em TWO, 2-run triples! One from a struggling vet (Ichiro) and one from a call-up just off the DL (Halman).

And, speaking of Halman ~ way to go, Greg! 3 for 4 with 2RBI in his first game this season!

And then, we finally got to see a successful squeeze play (needed that to erase the whole Eric Byrnes deal from the memory), way to go, Ryan!
Adam comes through (as he has SO many times) with an RBI single to tie the game in the 8th

And, what else is new? Miggy a 3-run home run to break the tie (and then some!)

It was quite a see-saw battle...
The Rays struck first taking the 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning and they added two more in the 3rd, but the M's came back with 3-runs in the bottom of the 3rd (the triple and the squeeze). The middle innings were a bit quiet offensively - in the top of the 4th the Rays had a single and then there would be no hits from either side until the bottom of the 7th when Adam walked, Carlos singled and Greg hit that 2-run triple that put the M's ahead 5-3. Jamey entered in the top of the 8th and the lead evaporated before you could get a beer from the fridge - a single, back-to-back doubles and another single meant another lead change - Rays up 6-5. But wait, the M's weren't going to roll over, no sir-ee-bob! In the bottom of the inning, who would have guessed that Brendan would start the inning and end the inning (ground outs in each AB) but, what mattered was: Justin walked (Jack Wilson ran for Justin), Adam singled and scored Wilson, Miggy homered and scored Jack and Adam. And, once Brandon took the mound in the 9th - that was all she wrote for Maddon's Rays.
The pitchers had mixed performances, even though the net result was a win...
Erik wasn't super sharp, but he basically did his job (which he's been doing a lot lately - THREE runs or fewer in EIGHT consecutive starts). Today's line: 111P - 7IP - 8H - 3ER - 0BB - 7K (I especially like that he went seven, pitched MORE than 100 pitches and gave up ZERO walks). What's a bit ironic, is that Jamey came in and also gave up THREE runs and, even though he only pitched ONE inning, he got the W. They really ought to take a look at the way wins are tallied.
Anyhoo - then Brandon came in for the 1-2-3 save (his SIXTEENTH)
And all is well and good in Marinerland as they take off for a three-game set with Chicago and then on to Detroit for the same.
