M's 4 | O's 12
Jarrod Washburn gave the bullpen an extra night off last night and, apparently, they were still in vacation mode :-(
Erik, fresh off the DL, did okay ...
He only went 4 innings on his 75 pitch limit and gave up 2 runs in the 1st, but struck out 8.
Franklin's 3-run homer in the bottom of the 1st inning gave the M's the lead...
and that would be all the scoring until the 6th. Things were looking okay, as Jaku got through the 5th unscathed/
But then came the nightmarish 6th and 7th innings ...
Jaku, Kelley and Roy gave up total of 10 runs. Franklin had a rare mis-cue in center to allow 2 runs to score.
Junior legs out a lead-off double in the 8th (as we held our collective breath)...
But to no avail. The M's would pick up one more run in the 9th on a single, a double and a sac-fly. But that would be all she wrote. Luke Scott's 7 RBI were just too much for the come-back kids to overcom. Sometimes, it's just not your night.
Day game tomorrow ~ they can still take the series.

What a difference a night makes! The Orioles are going to have the best outfield in the majors in two years.
ReplyDeleteLuke Scotts another guy I'm glad that's getting a little attention.
If I want you to reply, I better say something good about the M's! Gutierrez has really showed up.
He should be a solid player for years to come.
Go harrass the gm now and tell him to make some deals!

ReplyDeleteWhat's the rush?
ReplyDeleteThere's still a 4-game set w/Texas that could determine direction....
And, a lot can happen between now and the 31st.
In the new brain-trust I trust!
