M's 1 | Indians 4

Seems this one was a good one to miss...
Garrett was definitely not in a groove tonight and the "D" certainly did nothing to help him out as they were all over the map - 4 errors and 3 DPs

The offense was a bit hap-hazard as well...
a hit in EVERY inning, but only ONE run (Ronnie's opposite field homer)

One bright spot...
Kenji ~ 3 for 4 and 2 base runners thrown out

Felix Day tomorrow!
(and I'll get to watch the whole thing, as I have the day off!!)

  1. What exactly was Olson doing out there?

Most teams switch up their rotations during the break, especially with Cliff Lee pitching on the other side.

    Kind of a curious move!

  2. As ineffective as Garrett was yesterday, the team had actually won 4 of the last 5 games in which he started (including against BOS and LAD) so I don't think it was that odd (especially since Felix wasn't available due to his ASG appearance, Wash is nursing some minor aches and pains and Erik can't go on short rest)...

But, the loss yesterday really had very little to do with Garrett's pitching and much more to do with the shoddy D and lack of patience at the plate. Looking a bit more closely at the box score, it shows that Lee only faced 2 more batters than the M's pitchers and yet he only needed 112 pitches, whereas they used 153. Yuk.

Here's hoping Wak chewed 'em out a bit. Last time he was really frustrated after a game (Felix and the running wild halos) he spoke his mind and sure enough a 180 degree turn around.

  4. re: Hannahan...
not getting any hits and he's already made an error or two, but we'll cut him some slack as he adjusts to his new team ;-)

Can't say he's any too timid though - he took out the Tribe catcher on one of his 2 successful scoring attempts yesterday :-)
