G54 | Just another one-run game

M's 3 | O's 2

rosy ramblings...
Nearly HALF of the M's games so far this season have been decided by ONE run.

Including tonight, the M's have played 25 one-run games - they have won 14

So, as much as the offense has been maligned, seems to me it only needs to be a
tad bit better in order to rack up quite a few more wins - provided the pitching holds up and the defense improves - a LOT.

bright sights...

~ Ichiro extending again - 27 (could get interesting if we are still counting past this weekend)
~ THREE, count 'em THREE double plays - including my favorite .... a strike 'em out / throw 'em out!

~ Yay for "easy outs!" 2 pick-offs, 1 caught stealing

~ Ninth-inning wins are always a little more exciting...
Franklin triples with one out and after BOTH Ichiro AND Russell are intentionally walked, AB comes through!
As the weather heats up...
so does his bat
And once the clubhouse laughter and cheering had subsided following Wednesday night's series victory, Ken Griffey Jr. stood quietly by his locker and spoke of what a revived Beltre will mean to this team.

"I know he's been working hard and to see it paying off for us is a positive sign," Griffey said. "Hopefully, he can continue it and we can have some fun, like we were the first few weeks of the season."

bleak peeks...
not even going there tonight ~ just savoring the series win :-)

Nice for the guys to get a day off at home (only their 2nd one this season) before the Twinkies come to town.

  1. you can have your 9th inning wins, I prefer when they're just 5-0 like Tuesday!

Look at Vargas go, can he keep it up?

I say Ichiro will top out at 37 games, Branyan will definitely help him.

  2. Thanks Lisa. You're right. If Beltre comes through and Lopez sharpens up a bit the offense is good enough to compete. I'm pretty sure those two guys will come around. The bull pen is kind of scary right now. Lot's of talent in there but it hasn't meshed well. Texas pitching will fade. The Yanks have been tearing Texas up at their own slugging game BUT with better pitching. We're still in it.

  3. well, texas just won, but I think they'll fade as they go along. Their starters just arent very good.

  4. Daniel~
*Good question about Vargas ... we shall see, but hate to think where the M's would be if we hadn't had him to this point.
*As for TEX starters not being very good...
unfortunately, they are LIGHTS OUT vs. the M's...

  5. That wont continue. Feldman, McCarthy. Come on!

Some people think the Rangers will fade cause of the heat. That's stupid! All of them should be used to it by now!

  6. Or, Ichiro will go 0 for 4 with an extra at bat in the 10th.

At least it came against Liriano and Nathan (even though Lirianos having a terrible year).

  7. Ichiro - I'll take the blame for the end of his hit streak.
I finally entered the MLB Beat the Streak contest, of course, I picked Ichiro.

Liranao ~ leave it to the M's to help get a struggling pitcher back on track.
