bright spots
FELIX! He showed us EXACTLY what we needed to see today...
~ came out strong (allowed only one hit through 4IP) and went long (8IP - desperately needed to rest the BP)
~ the 10 K's restated how dominant he can be
~ bounce back after a bad inning (allowed 3 in the 5th, but came back to 1-2-3 in the 6th)
~ bounce back after a bad pitch (struck out the last batter he faced in the 8th after allowing a solo shot)
THIS is the Felix we know and LOVE and this is definitely the type of outing that he can build upon as he continues to develop and mature into that ACE role.
YUNI! In the "magic two-hole"...
2 more walks! and a nice sac-bunt
XBH!!!
Even though I'm a pitching and defense kinda gal and LOVE small ball, I must say the string of singles in the past several games (for those counting, Ichiro's lead off single on Wed. was the last M's XBH) was gettin' a bit old. Nice to see Jr (match-ups be damned!) and AB go yard and Jose with a double.
Not worrying about "bleak peeks" today...
The home stand ended on a great note on a beautiful day.
Off to OakTown and Anaheim they go...

no, No, NO!!
ReplyDeleteI'd rather face the red sox than the M's!
I might actually go to the game tomorrow.
Isn't this about the time the A's roll off 10 or 12 (or 20 ;-) wins in-a-row?
ReplyDeleteHave fun if you go ...
here's hoping you see a great game, but aren't happy with the result ;-)
Hot Yanks coming to Arlington to cool off Texas?
Here's time they a's blow 10 out 12 more winnable games.
ReplyDeleteTomorrows game will go like this:
A's will go up 4-1 and with 2 outs in the top of 9th, Geren calls Ziegler to close it out.
he proceeds to walk the bases loaded (to Balentin, Johnson and Jay Buhner) on 12 straight pitches.
Than, Cedeno will come up and hit a flare down the left field line that holliday dives and ricochets into the a's dugout and rolls under the bench.
Of course, Holliday hurts himself on the dive and by time Crosby runs out to get it, Cedeno has an inside-the-park home run making it a 5-4 M's lead.
In the bottom of the 9th, The A's hit 3 straight fly balls to the track that are all robbed of homeruns off Aardsma.
M's win 5-4 because that's about how every other A's/M's game has gone.
Texas will cool down a little. McCarthy shutting out anybody is a total fluke, but they still could end up 4-10 games above .500.
and sorry for the grammar, I was rushing just a tad.
